As mentioned in the post on my adventure on the Slovak side of the Tatras, Life is precious, don’t let it slip away, I was totally captivated by the stunning array of wildflowers on my hike out of the mountains.
After staring up at pinnacles of towering rock for days, I was delighted with the splendid treasures to be found at my feet! Many I recognize also in my home state of Colorado, including a cameo appearance by the Columbine, of which I only saw one of!
I referenced Ralph Waldo Emerson’s Hamatreya poem in my last post citing the line “Earth laughs in flowers“, which came to mind upon my initial encounter with these marvels.
On further reflection, the power of even a single flower to inspire and overcome the malaise afflicting the common man reminds me also of one of my favorite songs in French, written and performed by Manu Chao, Dans mon jardin aka Le Petit jardin (Inside my garden). Which, if you do not understand French, translates roughly, but poignantly here.
How one can hope to find a flower amongst the madness to brighten their world!
